Like our ornamental plasterwork and other products we have carefully crafted and selected our team over the years to be able to have a skilled workforce which represents the very best in craftsmanship and expertise in the fibrous plaster and scagliola industry.

Since our formation in 1978, our team has grown both in the UK and USA to a team of over 40 skilled workers. We have a talented team of designers and modellers with more than thirty years of experience. The team are truly dedicated to fulfilling any design brief we receive.

In addition to our designers, we have highly skilled craftsmen who are the backbone of our business when it comes to the manufacture, installation and restoration of ornamental plasterwork.

We are proud of the specialist team we have built over the years and continue to invest in the training and development of our people. We understand that skills and knowledge are key to maintaining the recognition we receive for the highest standards of craftsmanship and service in our industry.

Accreditation’s,  Partners and Training

Hayles & Howe are proud to be accredited members of major Plastering and Construction organisations such as the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings and the AIS FPDC. We were also awarded the Investors in People Silver award in 2006 and The Queen’s Award for International Trade in 2002.

David Harrison
David Harrison
David has spent the last forty years successfully running Hayles and Howe Ltd in the UK and Hayles and Howe, Inc. in Baltimore, USA. He has received numerous accolades for his achievements, the most recent being a lifetime award for his dedication to training awarded to him by the Plaisterers’ Livery. David’s interest in the protection and conservation of Theatres has led the company to be world leaders in complete restorations, through to in depth research, surveys and reports of these historic buildings.
Robin Harrison
Robin Harrison
Robin has worked his way up through Hayles and Howe from being a placement student in the workshop whilst still at school, through an apprenticeship scheme leading to a full time position within the company. Following this in his own time Robin continued to follow an academic career taking HND courses in business studies, leading to a successful BA Hons degree. Robin is now Managing Director of the UK branch. Robins’ leadership, positive attitude and enthusiasm has seen successful completion of numerous projects, both large and small, for which the company has won awards from the Worshipful Company of Plaisterers’ and the FPDC.
Mark Burston
Mark Burston
Mark is the company scagliola Manager based in Crediton, Devon. Marks core role is the manufacture of beautiful scagliola for clients worldwide. Under Mark’s leadership the company is able to maintain a high quality service from book matching aged old scagliola to the manufacture of new designs of scagliola. Mark’s dedication to training and the sharing of knowledge has enabled the company to develop a strong and versatile team of craftsmen who assist him in the time consuming process of manufacture and installation of scagliola.
Niall Harris
Niall Harris
Niall has worked for Hayles and Howe for the last 34 years starting as an apprentice and working up through the business to the position of Production Manager. Niall’s thorough knowledge of ornamental plasterwork enables him to provide customers with a variety of services from the provision of new designs through to general advice and guidance. Niall’s complex role encompasses the overseeing of all training and apprenticeships within the business.
Russell Hempstead
Russell Hempstead
Russell is our Theatre manager and is in charge of all the Theatres and venues we support. Russell has numerous years of experience within this field and has a full understanding of the practical requirements necessary for the restoration and conservation of these wonderful venues. Russell has many years experience of surveying the plasterwork of these historic buildings particularly in the UK. Under his guidance and management staff have been able to provide clients with a high quality service from the presentation of informative and detailed reports to the completion of successful restoration and conservation projects and customer service.
Morgan Jones
Morgan Jones
As a talented and resourceful master Craftsman Morgan is more than qualified to successfully oversee the installation of a variety of projects for Hayles and Howe. Morgan brings years of experience into the business working to the highest standard of quality and professionalism, his calm and caring demeanour have enabled the company to maintain its high standards of both customer service and on site staff training.
Mark Stallard
Mark Stallard
Mark Stallard has been a health and safety professional for over 20 years and ensures all aspects of the Hayles & Howe compliance and procurement requirements are maintained. Mark is a Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) and the Fellow of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (FIIRSM).
Gunilla Horvath
Gunilla Horvath
Gunilla, who is the Quality Assurance & Office Manager, is responsible for ensuring the company’s processes and procedures adhere to its Quality Standards under ISO 9001:2015 as well as credit control aspects of the business. The firm is proud of its continued ISO accreditation. Gunilla brings a wealth of experience from over 30 years in law and financial services.
Matt Cridland
Matt Cridland
Matt is a core part of the design team at Hayles and Howe. He came to the company after studying and training in graphic, interior and product design. Starting at Hayles and Howe as a craftsman, Matt built up valuable skills and knowledge of the manufacture and installation of fibrous plaster work. He combines both these elements into his role, enabling him to produce informed and accurate drawings.
